Point-of-Care Testing Workshop
Maximum participants: 14
Training will focus on the proper procedure for performing skin-punctures, proper use, maintenance, trouble-shooting, instrument calibration, and quality control of instruments that will be used for testing and monitoring of glucose and cholesterol levels.
Training protocols and procedures are based on Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI). CLSI develops internationally recognized standards and guidelines for sample collection and diagnostic testing (http://www.clsi.org).
Training also includes risk management, communication skills, and relevant basic first-aid procedures involved with skin puncture procedures. Attention will focus on protecting the clients and reducing risk to the provider.
