WHMIS
is a hazard communication system designed to ensure workers
using hazardous materials, also known as controlled products,
have all the necessary information to safely handle, store and
dispose of these materials

Course Objectives
The primary objective
for the online WHMIS course is to provide course participants
with the skills necessary to access and apply the information
needed to protect their health and safety while working with
WHMIS controlled products. The course meets the legislated
worker training requirements for all Federal and Provincial
workplaces in all provinces and territories.
Evaluation Process
At the end of each
module, there is a quiz that each course participant must
challenge and successfully complete with a passing grade
before continuing to the next content module.
Course Duration:
The course is self paced so course duration will depend on the
individual participant and their prior knowledge base with the
course subject matter. On average, the course will take
between 2-5 hours to complete
Who Should Take the Course?
The course is intended for any employee that comes in “close
proximity” to a hazardous material(s).
Please Note:
Employers will have to supplement this training with worksite
specific training to ensure that their workers are aware of
and understand the hazards associated with the controlled
products that they use and how to safely work with them.
