This module introduces participants to veins, arteries and nerves found in the cubital fossa, lower forearm and hand.

Objectives: Anatomy of the Arm and Vein Locations

At the end of this Module the participant will be able to:
1. Describe the anatomical position of veins, arteries and nerves in the cubital fossa.
2. Locate and name three veins in the cubital fossa that are commonly used for venipuncture and venous access.
3. List factors to consider in venous site selection.
4. Describe situations that are causes for concern and procedures to follow when encountering each situation.
5. Identify venous access danger areas in the cubital fossa.
6. Describe the risk associated with each of the danger areas in the cubital fossa.
7. Describe the differences between arteries and veins.

Evaluation:
At the end of each unit, there is a practice activity to help participants apply their knowledge and assess their learning. Following completion of all the units in each module, there is an exam that each course participant must challenge and successfully complete with a passing grade of 80%.

Course Duration
The course is self paced so course duration will depend on the individual participant and their prior knowledge base with the course subject matter. On average, the course will take between 1-1.5 hours to complete each unit.
