The Medical Terminology course
provides an introduction to the professional language used by
those who are directly and indirectly involved with the art of
healing. The program will also introduce those not currently
involved in the health care environment with an introduction
to the language of medicine. In addition, the program will
provide participants with the basics of human anatomy and
physiology.

The Medical Terminology Program consists of 15 chapters. The
outline for the course material is as follows:

Course Objectives
Upon completion of the Medical Terminology Program the
participant will be able to:
1. Analyze
medical terms.
2. Correctly
spell medical terms.
3. Pronounce
medical terms.
4. Correctly
read passages containing medical terms.
Evaluation Process
At the end of each module, there is a quiz that each course
participant must challenge and successfully complete with a
passing grade before continuing to the next content module.
There are also two online mid-term tests and one final exam.
Course Duration
The course is self paced so course duration will depend on the
individual participant and their prior knowledge base with the
course subject matter. On average, the course will take
between 1.5-3 hours to complete each of the 15 units.
Who Should Take the Course?
Advances in the medical field and an aging population have
resulted in the medical industry being in a constant need of
medical professionals. Understanding medical terminology is
vital when entering a number of medical professions, including
Medical Billing, Medical Coding, and Medical Administration.
This program is
designed for individuals who wish to gain an understanding of
medical terms and/or enhance the knowledge base they already
have.
