Canada Labour Code, Part II, is intended for employers and employees, members of health and safety committees and representatives who are covered by Part II of the Code. Generally speaking, the Canada Labour Code establishes the legislative framework and outlines the duties and responsibilities of the employer and employees pertaining to occupational health and safety.

The course consists of the following units:

Section 1 - Introduction

Section 2 - Duties of Employers

Section 3 - Duties and Rights of Employees

Section 3 - Part II (Duties and Rights of Employees)

Section 4 - Committees, Representatives and Officers

Section 5 - Appeals, Offences and Punishment

Course Objectives
The purpose of the course is to explain the health and safety legislation which applies to all areas under federal jurisdiction. The course is designed for participant education, to provide information about the
Code as a proactive tool for reducing workplace accidents and occupational illnesses; and self-regulation and the internal resolution of occupational health and safety-related complaints and problems raised by employers and employees.

Evaluation Process
At the end of each module, there is a quiz that each course participant must challenge and successfully complete with a passing grade before continuing to the next content module.

Course Duration:
The course is self paced so course duration will depend on the individual participant and their prior knowledge base with the course subject matter. On average, the course will take between 3-5 hours to complete

Who Should Take the Course?
The course is intended for employers and employees, members of health and safety committees and representatives who are covered by Part II of the
Code. The Canadian Labour Code applies to employees who work under federal jurisdiction. This training is mandatory for all managers who have employees reporting to them. Consideration may also be given to those employees or managers who are members of Workplace Health and Safety (WPH&S) Committees or Site Health and Safety Representatives and who have not yet completed the WPH&S committee training.
